Ensuring Water Securityfor Your Critical Operations
Water is a crucial resource in the pharmaceutical industry, where it serves as a raw material, solvent, and ingredient in the formulation and production of pharmaceutical products, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), and analytical reagents. It is utilized in various stages of the production process, including as an excipient, for product reconstruction, during synthesis, and as a cleaning agent for equipment, vessels, and primary packaging materials.
The pharmaceutical industry has the most stringent water treatment requirements, with water needing to be free of organic carbon, non-pyrogenic, and microbiologically safe, with very low electrical conductivity (less than 1 µS/cm).
There are different water grades used for pharmaceutical purposes. The water can be classified into two types: bulk water, which is produced on-site, and packaged water, which is produced, packaged, and sterilized to maintain microbial quality throughout its shelf life. The water's grade and quality vary depending on the pharmaceutical use.
